About Isidora Marzano
Isidora was born in Belgrade, Serbia, in 1983, and has been drawing since her early childhood. She is graduated in painting at Accademia di belle arti Florence, Italy 2010.
She partecipated to a several group exhibitions.
Earlier on,Isidora Marzano had painted in the generally surrealistic style normal among her teachers, but after her pause for reflection she began to draw and paint in symbolistic style of detailed representeation which would enable her to give full expression to her inner world of images.
The style was in principle realistic, the subject matter magical, and magic realism has characterised her work ever since.
Isidora draws her inspirations from many sources: the preraphaelittes, the Italian Renaissance Masters, the Dutch Masters, iconography, mythology, psychology and philosophy. But most of all she relies on his own subconscious and intuition which has proven manytimes to have a logic and curious indepence of its own.
Her goal is to explore the mysterious by juxtaposing images from myth and reality. Thematically, her work addresses , love, permanence, impermanence, and the fragility of childhood and life. The subject of the paintings communicates an underlying desire for safety and stability in a threatening world.
Her work is neither entirely classical nor entirely contemporary; neither entirely realistic nor entirely fantastical. She is interested in the balance between old and new.
Though the imagery appears traditional, figurative and narrative, the true work is actually a personal life history in the process of development.
The balance between binary poles in her work is not limited only to the substantive themes, but extends to the medium itself. On the one hand, the paintings appear to be traditional, two-dimensional paintings rendered in a highly classical style. However, in fact, they are filled with experiments that challenge notions of what two-dimensional painting is.
